We know it's not easy to choose where to stay in Prague, especially after seeing the thousands of options that exist in different areas of the city. With this in mind and to make your search as easy as possible, we wanted to publish this post in which we tell you which are the best areas of Prague to stay in addition to leaving you a selection of some of the best hotels to stay in Prague.

Based on the days we spent in the city, during the trip to the Czech Republic, and of which we have written several guides, including Prague in 4 days, we leave you a selection of places to stay in Prague and the best neighbourhoods and hotels. Let's start!

Neighbourhoods where to stay in Prague

If there is one thing the city can boast about, it is the number of hotels you can find and the many options of accommodation areas in Prague you can choose from. With this in mind we recommend, especially if your trip is not for many days, to look for a central location that allows you to be close to most of the essential places to visit in Prague, in order to make the most of your time.

1. Staré Mesto or Old Town, the best area to stay in Prague

Undoubtedly Staré Mesto, where the historical centre of the city is located, is the best option for accommodation in Prague, due to its good location and proximity to most of the tourist attractions of the city. If we add to that the amount of gastronomic offer there is, the charm of the place and the fact that you will be next to the Old Square and the Astronomical Clock, staying here is a sure hit.
The price of accommodation in Staré Mesto is usually around 50-60 euros per night.

In order not to waste too much time looking for hotels, here are the most recommended options we have found for accommodation in Staré Mesto, taking into account the quality/price ratio:

2. Nové Mesto or New Town, another alternative place to stay in Prague

Although in our experience it is less practical than Staré Mesto, we have to say that this is another of the best places to stay in Prague, both for its location and its proximity to Wenceslas Square and the Dancing House, two of the places you cannot miss in Prague.
It is also one of the cheapest places to stay in Prague and includes a shopping area where you will also find many dining options and charming restaurants, where you can enjoy Czech cuisine in a much more local environment than in the historic centre.
The price of accommodation in Nové Mesto is usually around 60 euros per night.

3. Josefov or Jewish Quarter

Although not as famous as Staré Mesto, Josefov is another great place to stay in Prague due to its proximity to the historic centre, which is in the northern part, as well as being the site of the old Jewish ghetto. This is where you can visit the six synagogues and the old Jewish cemetery. In addition, you can find many good restaurants in the area.
The price of accommodation in Josefov is usually around 60-80 euros per night.

4. Malá Strana or Lesser Town of Prague

Known for being one of the oldest and most historic districts of the city, Malá Strana is another alternative for accommodation in Prague. Although for us it is not the most suitable, as it is a little further away from some tourist attractions, its proximity to Prague Castle, its bohemian atmosphere and above all, its tranquillity, which you can breathe in its hundreds of cobbled streets, make it another of the best areas to stay in Prague. It is also next to Charles Bridge, so it can be a great alternative if you want to stay in a quiet area but well connected to the historic centre.
The price of accommodation in Malá Strana is usually around 65 euros per night.

Recommended hotels in Malá Strana

If you want to play it safe and not waste too much time looking for accommodation, among the most recommendable options for accommodation in Malá Strana, taking into account the quality/price ratio, the following options stand out:

During our stay in Prague we stayed at the Archibald City Hotel, which is good value for money and strategically located very close to Wenceslas Square.
Although we liked the location very much, if we were to return we would probably opt for Staré Mesto which we believe is the best area to stay in Prague.
