In 2000 the population of Tucson, the city was 486,699. The area grows by 2,000 each month and is one of the fastest growing, large metropolitan areas.

The official birth date of Tucson is actually much later in its history, 1775. That was when Hugo O' Conner established the Tucson Presidio.
